Choice Hotels website bookings terms and conditions

The booking conditions set out here apply to bookings made directly on the Choice Hotels website. They do not apply to bookings made using any third party websites. Booking terms and conditions for reservations made on third party websites may be found on the website at which the booking is made.

There are a limited number of rooms available for the advertised rates. The hotel may have other room availability at a higher tariff or for a specific number of nights.

Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained online, we cannot accept responsibility for any errors or omissions, and reserve the right to vary, amend, supplement or cancel any of the information or offers featured online at any time. In the event of a pricing error you have the right to cancel at anytime with no penalty.

Travel agency bookings made through our websites are not permitted.

During peak periods Choice Hotels reserves the right to amend the reservation accommodation to maximise occupancy.

Rates advertised are per room per night.

Child rates are based on children aged up to 14 years – anyone over the age of 14 years will be charged the full adult rate.

A valid debit/credit card is required at the time of booking in order to guarantee your reservation. Please present the card used for reservation upon arrival to pay in full at the hotel. No reduction is made for temporary absence, meals not taken, premature departure for any reason, nor for accommodation not required after confirmation of booking.

A non refundable/transferable deposit of £75 per adult will be processed when booking an All Inclusive package.

Cancellations of bookings based on a half board or bed and breakfast basis are subject to cancellation charges if the booking is cancelled less than 72 hours prior to 14:00 GMT on the day of arrival. After this time a charge equivalent to one night stay per room booked is payable. In the event of non arrival with no prior warning, a charge equivalent to one night stay per room booked is payable. We strongly recommend that you take out the necessary insurance to cover the cost of cancellation and to safeguard against other risks.

Telephone bookings terms & conditions

The booking conditions set out here apply to bookings made directly with Choice Hotels Reservations and the Hotel Reception. They do not apply to bookings made using any third party websites. Booking terms and conditions for reservations made on third party websites may be found on the website at which the booking is made.

Call reservations to check availability. We require a non-refundable deposit of £50 per adult (£75 for Christmas/ New Year and All-Inclusive bookings) within 7 days of booking to secure a reservation. Deposits may be taken over the telephone by valid credit/ debit card or forwarded by cheque to arrive at least 10 working days before the reservation arrival date. Make your cheque payable to 'Choice Hotels Ltd', print your reservation reference number on the reverse and forward it to CHOICE RESERVATIONS, 107 DICKSON ROAD, BLACKPOOL, FY1 2ET. When a deposit has been paid by cheque, cash or postal orders, we request full payment on arrival. When there is insufficient time for a deposit to be paid, we require a valid credit/debit card number as a guarantee to secure accommodation and full payment is due on arrival. We do not send a written booking confirmation or a deposit receipt; to check the details of your reservation, please call Reservations on 08448 11 55 70. Upon request we are able to send an email confirmation.

Cancellation - deposits paid are strictly non-refundable/transferable. If the accommodation is re-let, no further charge is made. In the event that the accommodation not be re-let, a charge of 2/3rds the total account (less VAT) is payable within 10 days of the original departure date. We advise guests to arrange insurance to cover costs in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

Early Booking Offers - on selected packages, limited rooms are available at discounted prices. These offers may be withdrawn at any time.

Single occupancy - rooms offered for single occupancy are limited and may be subject to a 'single occupancy charge' which could be double the published adult rate (including room upgrade supplements where applicable).

7 night stays - except at the Keswick Country House Hotel, seven-night reservations must commence on Friday, Sunday or Monday. Arrival on any other day will incur an additional charge of £20 per adult.

Payment of accounts - your account is payable upon request or prior to your departure (for reservations of nine adults or fewer). We cannot accept company or personal cheques. Credit facilities are only available upon the presentation at reception of a valid credit/ debit card when checking in. No reduction is made for temporary absence, meals not taken, premature departure for any reason, nor for accommodation not required after confirmation of booking.

Christmas / New Year bookings - we require a non-refundable deposit of £75 per adult and full payment is due by 15 November. For reservations made after 15 November, full payment is due at the time of booking. Terms and conditions will be dispatched with confirmation of the booking details.

Group Bookings - For groups of 25 adults or more please contact the sales office for a comprehensive quotation. Email Here. For groups of 10 adults or more, we require full payment of accommodation charges up to six weeks before the reservation arrival date. Full group booking terms and conditions will be dispatched to the group-organiser with confirmation of the booking details.

Conference Bookings - please contact the hotel management direct for a bespoke quotation.

Tour Operators - for reservations made by coach/ tour operators, we require full payment up to six weeks before the date of arrival. Full tour operator booking terms and conditions will be dispatched with confirmation of the booking details.

Travel/ Booking Agents - the terms and conditions set out here apply to travel agents and booking agents, except those agents with whom Choice Hotels Ltd has an existing contract. Choice Hotels Ltd will not pay commission.

Function / Christmas Party Bookings - these should be booked directly with the hotel (see the 'contact' location page of this website). Full Function/Christmas Party booking terms and conditions will be dispatched with confirmation of the booking.

Room requests - we cannot reserve specific room numbers but we will do our utmost to comply with your request for position, floor, facilities, etc.

Further Information

Non-Smoking Policy - As of January 2012 all five Choice Hotels are entirely non-smoking, this includes the us of electronic cigarettes. Smoking shelters are provided outside for guests to use.

Check-in and check-out; Rooms are available from 2pm (3pm at the Keswick Hotel). Rooms must be vacated by 10.30am (11am at the Keswick Hotel). The hotel will store luggage for early arrivals/ late departures but Choice Hotels Ltd accepts no responsibility for theft, loss or damage to stored luggage.

Entertainment - Where entertainment is offered, the management reserve the right to alter the entertainment program without notice.

Accessibility - Accessibility surveys at our hotels have identified hazards at the Viking Hotel and Keswick Country House Hotel, which cannot reasonably or practically be overcome. These hotels are therefore unsuitable for those with limited mobility. We are pleased to offer our sister hotels, the Cliffs, Claremont and Patterdale, as being more suitable, each having some level, ramped or lift access and some bedrooms which provide increased ease of use for those with limited mobility. Further information regarding accessibility may be obtained from Head Office by calling 01253 754211. Unless advised, we will assume that you and all members of your party are able to recognise an alarm and evacuate the building without assistance.

Pets - With the exception of guide dogs and hearing dogs for the deaf, we cannot accommodate pets.

Parking - All Choice Hotels have limited parking. Spaces are available on a 'first come, first served' basis and cannot be reserved. Vehicles are left at owners'/ customers' risk. The company does not accept responsibility for loss or damage. Any guest parking on company premises must leave their vehicle key at reception for the duration of their stay.

All-Inclusive - Details of what is included during the All-Inclusive breaks can be found on the All Inclusive offers page and we reserve the right to alter this without notice. A maximum of 2 alcoholic drinks will be served per person, per visit to the bar. Please be aware that under the Licensing Act 2003 we will refuse to serve drinks to any person who appears to be under the influence of alcohol. As responsible suppliers we will also refuse to serve drinks to any person we consider to have consumed an excessive amount of alcohol.

Damage – The hotel reserves the right to charge any individuals causing deliberate, accidental or reckless damage to the hotel's property or structure. If such damage is discovered during the stay it will be drawn to the guests attention but if discovered after guests have departed then we have the right to make a charge to the guest's credit/debit card, or send an invoice for payment to the registered booker's address.

Reservation Enquiries – Calls to our Reservation LoCall Hotline number may be recorded for training purposes. Calls to this number will be charged a maximum of 7 pence per minute, plus any additional service or access charges made by your own service provider.

The company is proud of the standards of accommodation and service offered to all guests. In the unlikely event that you should have cause for criticism or suggestion during your stay, please bring the matter to the attention of the Choice Manager so that efforts may be made to meet your requirements or resolve problems. We consider it unreasonable to make any criticism in writing upon your return home should the Hotel not first have been given the opportunity to attend to any matters arising during your stay.

Whilst taking every care to honour commitments, Choice Hotels Ltd regrets that it will not accept liability for any errors, omissions or cancellations howsoever caused.

The terms and conditions set out here comprise the agreement between you and Choice Hotels Ltd. The contract is deemed to have been made upon our receipt of the deposit. No employee or representative of the Company has the authority to verbally vary these terms and conditions. We will not be in a position to vary these conditions unless requested to do so in writing, with such variation confirmed by us in writing.
